Piano Accompanist
OverviewFlexible schedule, likely between 250 - 500 hours per school year.

About the DistrictThe Vancouver Public Schools is a district that supports diverse student communities and offers a wide range of educational opportunities. The district seeks highly qualified piano accompanists to support a variety of classroom and performance settings.
Responsibilities- Candidates must perform/sight-read on piano at interview.
- Support a variety of classroom and performance settings, including choral rehearsals, choral performances, accompanying both vocal and instrumental student soloists, dance classes, and other special events.
- Run sectionals and coach students during section rehearsals; providing a summary to the director.
- Perform other tasks and assume other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Ability to play piano accompaniments employing advanced musical skills and demonstrating proficiency in multiple genres.
- Demonstrated proficient, advanced sight-reading skills.
- Ability to work well with students and teachers.
- Regular attendance to carry out the duties and responsibilities of the position to achieve program requirements.
- Ability to drive to various schools for practices and performances.
- Ability to hear music and instructions.
- Manual dexterity important.
- Treat co-workers, supervisors, students, parents and others with dignity and respect at all times.
- Serve as a positive role model for students, and practice the behaviors that are expected of our students.
- Work in a flexible and cooperative manner.
- Practice as music may indicate to ensure secure performances and playing of vocal parts (open score) during rehearsals.

Salary range:
New employees will start at the minimum hourly rate in the salary range. However, employees who have verified prior years of service in a similar occupational status from other Washington School Districts or Education School Districts may receive experience credit towards salary placement. RetirementEmployees may be eligible for retirement benefits through the Washington State Department of Retirement Systems (DRS). Eligibility is based on FTE. Detailed information can be found here.
Time Off- Sick Leave: 8 hours per month (part-time employee accrual will be proportionate to their FTE).
- Personal Leave: 3 days per school year.
- Twelve (12) month full-time Pro Tech employees are eligible to accrue ten (10) days vacation at one (1) - five (5) years of service. The accrual days are incrementally improved by five (5) days at the completion of five (5), eleven (11) and twenty (20) consecutive years of service respectively.
