The Controls Engineer – BMS Systems is responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and optimization of building management systems across multiple facilities of Bonneville Power Administration (Client). The candidate will study the current BMS design architecture and provide monitoring and maintenance of the system. The Controls Engineer will work with mechanical and electrical personnel to ensure the safe and reliable operation of HVAC and other systems, improve BMS efficiency toward an enhanced sustainability quotient, and reduce the financial impact of operations.
The Engineer will also act as SME for HVAC, lighting, access control, and energy management systems.
- Lead BMS operations by monitoring and optimizing building automation systems across multiple facilities, ensuring peak performance of HVAC, lighting, access control, and energy management systems
- Drive system improvements through data analysis and performance monitoring, implementing energy‑efficiency strategies that deliver measurable cost reductions and sustainability enhancements
- Provide technical expertise on BMS architecture, configuration, programming, and commissioning while serving as the subject‑matter expert for complex automation challenges
- Manage system maintenance by troubleshooting issues, coordinating with cross‑functional teams and vendors, and ensuring minimal downtime through proactive maintenance strategies
- Oversee system upgrades and compliance by planning expansions and integrations, maintaining documentation, training staff, and ensuring adherence to building codes and safety standards
- 3+ years of experience in building automation systems management
- Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, electrical systems, lighting systems, and energy management principles
- Proficiency in BMS software platforms (e.g., Honeywell, Schneider Electric, Siemens, Johnson Controls)
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Electronics & Instrumentation Engineering
- Experience with data analytics and visualization tools
- Knowledge of IoT and smart building technologies
- Project management experience
- Relevant certifications (e.g., CBCP, CEM) preferred
91,600.00 – USD per year
This range is an estimate and actual compensation may differ. Final compensation packages are determined by various considerations including but not limited to candidate qualifications, location, market conditions, and internal considerations.
