Summary: The Project Manager for the VC/BIM Department at JH Kelly is responsible for overseeing the detailing efforts for both large and small projects, acting as a liaison between field construction and virtual construction efforts. This position requires the management of multiple project teams, coordination of resources, and ensuring project deliverables are met on time and within budget. The successful candidate will need a deep understanding of BIM processes, and construction practices, and the ability to lead and develop teams.
Salary Range: $35 - $56 per hour (DOE), FLSA non-exempt (OT eligible).
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage, assist, and support multiple project detailing teams, assigning tasks, tracking progress, and ensuring deliverables are on time.
- Act as a liaison between project management, field teams, fabrication shops, and detailing teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
- Develop and maintain the project detailing schedule, aligning it with the overall project timeline.
- Track and manage the project detailing budget, and productivity, and handle change orders.
- Apply construction knowledge to coordinate with other trades, and assist in constructability reviews, value engineering, and conflict resolution.
- Oversee management of CAD/BIM files, ensuring compliance with project standards for controls, model content, and file management.
- Conduct QA/QC reviews to ensure project outputs meet quality standards.
- Foster positive team relationships, engage in problem-solving and drive productivity improvements.
- Manage the RFI process to resolve discrepancies and secure necessary information.
- Report project quantities, maintain documentation, and update project status in department meetings.
- Facilitate regular project meetings with management, field teams, fabrication shops, and detailing staff.
Relationships:
- Maintain proactive and positive relationships within the JH Kelly operating groups and teams, including shop and field craft personnel.
- Foster positive relationships with customer representatives, vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, safety, CAD/BIM, accounting, IT, and all project teams.
Experience / Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field experience preferred.
- Minimum five (5) years as a Construction Project Engineer or Manager with experience in 3D modeling and clash coordination.
- Demonstrated proficiency with Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud, and BIM processes.
- Experience leading diverse teams, managing schedules, and ensuring project deadlines are met.
Necessary Skills:
- Strong commitment to safety, quality, and productivity.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving capabilities.
- Effective communication, both oral and written, to manage multiple projects and report to various stakeholders.
- Understanding of MEP systems, methods, codes, and materials.
- Ability to read and interpret complex project documents like P&IDs, isometrics, and specifications.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Bluebeam Revu.
- Willingness to travel as needed.
Physical Requirements:
This office position requires the ability to sit for extended periods while working at a computer. Candidates must have the ability to perform repetitive tasks such as typing and using a mouse. Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching are necessary. The role also requires good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling office equipment weighing up to 20 pounds. The ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, is essential.
