Northwest Transit Planning Practice Lead

Join HDR as a Regional Transit Planning Practice Leader to drive strategic transit solutions across the United States.

• Collaborate with HDR’s Transit Planning Practice Leader to identify practice strategy and emerging market opportunities.
• Coordinate regional market analysis and develop region‑specific products to meet client needs.
• Present regional transit planning activities and needs on regular practice group calls.
• Lead technical development of transit planning staff in policy, systems/network, corridor, operations/safety, funding, and multimodal modes.
• Identify market opportunities, develop winning pursuit strategies, and work with business development leaders.
• Identify industry talent, attract and retain transit planning staff.
• Serve as a project manager for major transit projects, delivering quality work on time and exceeding expectations.
• Represent HDR at state and regional professional organizations.
• Perform other duties as needed.

• Bachelor’s degree in Planning, Engineering, or related discipline (required).
• Minimum 10 years of relevant transit planning experience.
• Experience developing and implementing strategic plans for team building, skills development, and/or business development.
• Master’s degree in Planning, Engineering, or related discipline (preferred).
• Professional registration such as AICP, PE, PTOE, PTP, PMP preferred.

• Bachelor's degree in Planning, Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years’ experience with transportation planning.
• Excellent analytical and communication skills.
• Understanding of transit planning principles.
• Positive attitude, ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and personnel.
• Solid business development skills; ability to relate well to clients; presentation skills.
