This full‑time contract Engineering Support Specialist position will provide materials coordination and support to the Materials Management organization within the Logistics Management group. The role ensures that project materials are available to construction contractors as indicated in contract releases and work schedules. It involves close collaboration with supervisors, contract representatives, contract specialists, contracting officers, investment recovery personnel, shipping and receiving teams, and a variety of internal and external customers.

Include
  • Review Bills of Materials, availability of furnished materials, and Material Request Order Status Reports for long‑lead items to validate materials for projects are ordered and available at the time of construction Notice to Proceed (NTP).
  • Provide construction contractors with detailed lists of project materials and quantities required.
  • Communicate technical specifications regarding material procedures to external stakeholders.
  • Run pre‑defined reports to identify materials that will not be available for projects and submit written notifications to project teams, including contractors.
  • Alert project managers and teams of any material issues and keep them updated throughout resolution.
  • Assist in expediting materials, tracking missing or incomplete shipments, and resolving material availability issues.
  • Monitor MR need dates; coordinate with warehouse teams to arrange pickup or shipment of project materials.
  • Schedule and facilitate release of materials to contractors as per contract requirements.
  • Validate material inventories are accurately filled, loaded, and transported to appropriate locations to keep projects on schedule.
  • Create inventory worksheets for physical inventory and generate MRs as needed.
  • Process material returns and coordinate with investment recovery for reuse or disposal; provide documentation for returns.
  • Monitor, track, and report all material usage during projects; calculate costs for wasted, lost, or damaged materials and provide recommendations for potential chargebacks.
  • Attend meetings and provide material status updates to project managers and contractors.
  • Extract and analyze reports from systems such as BES, Asset Suite, and Power

    BI to verify material charges against project work orders.
  • Participate in process improvement by recommending new or revised procedures and assisting with workflow updates and training.
  • Maintain compliance with organizational standards for document management and information governance.
  • Assist with other tasks related to the delivery of furnished materials to contractors as requested.

Required Education & Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, supply and logistics management, construction management, engineering, or a related technical field preferred.
  • Level 2 position: 5 years of engineering operations experience supporting construction logistics and engineering operations or a related field.
  • Broad knowledge of engineering operations policies and procedures involving material and equipment inventory and control.
  • Experience with processes and automated systems for acquisitions, accountability, control, and disposal of facilities, equipment, materials, and supplies.
  • Experience with Oracle‑based Enterprise Resource Planning software.
  • Proficiency in Excel, including Visual Basic for Applications (VBA).
  • Working knowledge of SharePoint for data entry and retrieval.
