Job Overview

Healthcare Executive Placements, Inc. (HCEPInc) is seeking a Cardiac Cath Lab Tech for a W2 Contract position based in Wailuku, HI.

Schedule & Compensation

Schedule:

Day, Monday through Friday, 5 8's, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm
Assignment Duration: 13 Weeks
Compensation:
Hourly rate of $40.00 - $50.00

Summary

Under direct and indirect supervision, performs and assists with a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in the Interventional Radiology service areas; performs all duties of Radiology Technologist II position as needed.

Essential Functions
  • Performs digital angiographic imaging and other exams in the interventional room; positions patients, provides immobilization preparation and patient counseling; scrubs or circulates during procedures as required; assists physicians with catheter placement, instrument passage, image‑agent administration; reviews orders, prepares schedules, consults with attending radiologists and registered nurses; prepares floor stock medications; maintains daily records of exams performed.

  • Follows all National Patient Safety Goals; receives and double identifies patients prior to performing the study; ensures accuracy of information and data entry while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.

  • Prepares sterile fields, imaging agents, trays, and instruments; ensures sterility of surgical packs, trays, and disposables; maintains adequate supplies during procedures.

  • Selects technical factors appropriate for each procedure; verifies accuracy of patient identification on all recorded images; captures required documentation in the Radiology Information System (RIS); preps, loads, programs, and operates the contrast injector; screens patients for contraindications.

  • Assists radiologist during procedures; maneuvers mechanical equipment around the patient; operates and understands all features of the digital imaging system.

  • Post‑processes digital images as required (3D, subtraction, unsubtracted, etc.); prepares images for radiologist interpretation; transmits images to the Diagnostic Imaging PACS system.

  • Maintains working knowledge of all department equipment and devices; reports equipment malfunctions appropriately.

  • Assumes responsibilities for patient during procedure; provides service‑oriented communication, explaining the procedure and answering questions; emphasizes compassionate, individualized patient care; assists with patient transport at procedure end.

  • Provides instructions on safety measures to patients, family members, and hospital staff; applies ALARA principles to minimize radiation exposure; captures and records radiation dose delivered during the procedure.

  • Functions as part of the resuscitation team during Code Blue and/or Rapid Response Team situations.

  • Maintains necessary materials, linen supply, and general cleanliness of the assigned room.

Qualifications
  • Minimum three years general radiology experience as a registered technologist.

  • Minimum one year special procedures/angiography experience as a registered technologist, including training program completion in the specialty if applicable.

  • Associate degree in radiologic technology or two years experience in a directly related area.

  • Basic Life Support OR CPR/AED for Professional Rescuers.

  • Radiographer License (Hawaii) required at hire.

  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate – Radiography.

  • Certification in Vascular‑Interventional (VI) Radiography or Cardiac‑Interventional (CI) Radiography with the ARRT is preferred.

  • Certified Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) by the American Heart Association is preferred.
