Summary
The primary purpose of the position is to ensure that supplies and material are distributed to all areas serviced by Logistics. Provides wards, clinics, operating rooms, secondary storage locations, and other hospital facilities with supplies and material including, but not limited to, sterile and non‑sterile medical supplies, instrument sets, and equipment.
QualificationsTo qualify for this position you must meet all requirements within thirty (30) days of the closing date of this announcement (01/05/2026). Time‑In‑Grade Requirement:
Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past fifty‑two (52) weeks must also meet time‑in‑grade requirements within thirty (30) days of the closing date. For a GS‑05 position you must have held a GS‑03 or higher. Each applicant must submit an SF‑50 that shows time‑in‑grade eligibility; if the most recent SF‑50 has an effective date within the past year it may not clearly demonstrate the required one‑year time‑in‑grade.
Applicants may also qualify based on experience and/or education as described below.
- Specialized
Experience:
One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS‑04 in the normal line of progression for the occupation. Examples include providing supplies and material to clinical and/or administrative areas, scanning, bar‑coding, receiving, storing, and distributing supplies, pulling stock, replenishing stock, maintaining records on stock levels, monitoring expiration dates, cleaning assigned areas, utilizing an automated inventory system, and answering customer questions regarding supplies and materials. - Education: Four years above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. Education must be obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, technical school, junior college, college, or university. Transcripts are required. For GS‑05, only education in excess of sixty (60) semester hours is creditable.
- Combination: Applicants may combine education and experience. Your experience must be detailed in your resume and transcripts are required.
- Driver’s License: Applicants must possess a valid unrestricted State driver’s license with a safe driving record and must demonstrate medical qualification to operate the appropriate motor vehicle safely. Applicants must pass the agency Government Vehicle Driver’s physical examination.
- Pulls stock inventory and material for delivery.
- Replenishes stock inventory.
- Interacts with clinical and administrative customers and maintains records on stock levels.
- Communicates to the Lead or Supervisor any concerns related to supplies, equipment, and procedures.
- Provides information to customers regarding medical supplies.
- Monitors expiration dates – rotates stock to limit outdates and removes items from use as required by outdates.
- Monitors and controls critical supplies.
- Performs daily inventory using bar‑coding equipment on a predetermined schedule that will allow for timely replenishment.
- Resolves differences between records and physical count of stock.
- Distributes items according to established or ad hoc requirements in computerized inventory management systems.
- Delivers supplies in a timely manner and ensures supplies and material delivered are in sterile and operational condition.
- Completes specialty cart preparation.
- Cleans assigned secondary areas in accordance with aseptic principles.
- Receives supplies and material into the medical center's catchment area.
- Work Schedule:
8:00 am – 4:30 pm PST, Monday to Friday. - Physical and work requirements: standing and walking during the entire workday, frequent reaching, bending and lifting of supply packages (occasionally weighing as much as 50 pounds). Pushing loaded carts of medical supplies weighing in excess of 100 pounds, with assistance moving items weighing over 40 pounds.
- Work performed throughout the medical center and supported catchment areas, including wards, storage buildings, and warehouses that vary in environment.
- Risk of trips, falls, scrapes, cuts, bruises, or injuries present in day‑to‑day work.
- Required to stock supplies in primary and secondary inventory points throughout the hospital.
- Maintain a clean environment while performing tasks that can produce dust or other infectious pollutants.
- Supported units may be offsite requiring round‑trip travel time in excess of 90 minutes.
- Tours of duty may require afternoon, evening, and/or overnight shifts.
