Patient Access Representative – Admitting
Salary range: $22.61 – $33.94. Full‑time, 1.00 FTE, variable position.
Job SummaryAssists in coordinating activities between scheduling, insurance verification, pre‑certification and acts as a clinical liaison with physician practices interacting with pre‑visit services.
Essential Functions- Pre‑registers/registers patients and collects patient demographics and financial data, using varying methods including mobile cart.
- Collects patient balances, co‑payment, co‑insurance or other payment types.
- Verifies insurance coverage, ensures all requirements are met, and obtains prior authorizations or referrals as needed before patient arrival.
- Responds to customers’ inquiries.
- Assists with departmental coverage as needed.
- Manages daily appointment schedules, which may include reminder calls and calling all referrals.
- May transport patients using escort or wheeled transport equipment.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Education
- High School Diploma preferred or equivalent.
Experience
- Minimum 1 year required:
Medical office or related customer service experience. - Preferred:
Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook).
Skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of medical terminology and CPT/ICD-10 coding (preferred).
- Knowledge of insurance processes and regulations (preferred).
- Must manage conflict effectively and professionally (required).
- Excellent time‑management skills, meeting time‑sensitive deadlines (required).
- Good customer service and interpersonal skills (required).
- Consistently operates computer and other office equipment.
- Exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
- Sedentary work.
