The Farsi In-Person Interpreter is responsible for facilitating onsite communication for Limited English Proficient (LEP) community and the practitioners that serve them in various settings. This contract position offers flexibility and opportunities to expand your interpreting business with access to many sessions per day.

• Provide effective onsite interpreting sessions professionally.
• Maintain professional appearance and behavior, including punctuality and preparedness.
• Adapt quickly to new and changing situations.
• Follow interpreter ethical standards and procedural requirements.
• Show commitment to cultural sensitivity and working in diverse environments.
• Respect and understand LEP clients, their culture, dialect, beliefs, and preferences.
• Possess strong customer service and interpreting passion.
• Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation, enunciation, and polite expressions.
• Render accurate concepts and meanings according to protocol.

• Fluent in both source and target languages, with strong verbal skills (Farsi to English and vice versa).
• Excellent listening and retention skills for high accuracy during interpretation.
• Successful completion of a proficiency assessment or holding a national certification.
• Knowledge of ethics and standards of practice (IMIA, NBCMI, NCIHC).
• At least 18 years old.

• Ability to read and write in the requested languages.
• Degree or certifications in interpreting.
• National Medical Interpreter Certification (CCHI, NBCMI, DSHS).
• Accredited medical interpreting training (e.g., ALTA, MITS, Bridging the Gap, MiTio, Cross-Cultural training, 40-hour courses).
