CompensationHourly Rate: $32.19
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Complies with all craft and shipyard safety and environmental measures.
- Responsible for planning tasks as required.
- Tests equipment as applicable.
- Proper care and safe use of hand and power tools.
- Works from project specifications and applicable working drawings and blueprints.
- Compliance with project standards, policies, and procedures.
- Takes direction from and communicates with other shift personnel to maintain efficient workflow.
- Performs similar work in all areas of the yard as the need arises.
- Effective communication; works independently or in a group.
- Basic math skills (add, subtract, divide, multiply).
- Proficiency in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehending English.
- Demonstrable knowledge of AC and DC electrical theory.
- Power generation, control, and distribution.
- Use of test equipment.
- Reading and layout of drawings.
- Electric motors and controls.
- Grounding and bonding.
- Cable identification, size requirements, ampacity limits, and reference location.
- Fabrication and installation of multiple cable transits, conduit, and raceways.
- Conduit bending.
- Interior communications and alarms.
- Reasoning and solution finding.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- 2 years relevant work experience.
- Proven skills:
Work history and/or applicable education will be considered in lieu of work experience.
- Complete on-the-job training as needed per project.
- Continual standing, walking, and fine motor skills for tool and machinery operation.
- Ability to lift and carry 60 lbs. May require assistance with heavy equipment.
- Occasional twisting, turning, bending, climbing, and walking over uneven surfaces.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, reach, kneel, twist, pull, push, grip, and climb.
- Work mostly indoors in areas possibly exposed to external weather conditions.
- Use of safety equipment.
- Depth perception (three-dimensional vision to judge distance/spatial relationships).
- Vision near acuity (clarity of vision at 20 inches or less).
- Work performed inside a shop with continuous machinery operation generating varying levels of noise.
- Work may involve use of chemicals, coolants, greases, solvents, petroleum, and fumes.
- Proper PPE will be provided as necessary.
Interaction/communication with others, works alone/independently, may direct/supervise others according to level of position, ability to perform repetitive work, attention to detail, and flexibility and adaptability.
