We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Clinical Nurse Supervisor to lead our Pre‑Operative, Post‑Operative, IPC, and Pre‑Admission Services departments. Position SummaryThe Clinical Nurse Supervisor provides daily operational support and frontline clinical leadership within assigned departments of the Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC). This role ensures efficient departmental operations, supports clinical staff, and upholds patient care standards in alignment with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities- Staffing and scheduling:
Oversee staffing levels and manage scheduling to meet operational needs. - Orientation and onboarding:
Assist in developing and delivering orientation programs and onboarding materials for new hires. - Education and competency:
Support staff education initiatives and competency assessments to maintain clinical excellence. - Performance management:
Contribute to performance evaluations and provide feedback to promote professional growth. - Patient care standards:
Maintain and promote evidence‑based practices to ensure high‑quality patient care. - Quality improvement:
Assist with implementation and monitoring of quality improvement measures to enhance clinical outcomes. - Operational support:
Serve as an additional resource and backup for unit staff and departmental operations; fill staffing gaps as needed. - Recruitment, interviewing, selection, education and evaluations of staff in collaboration with the Nurse Manager.
- Design staffing plan, monitor performance, provide coaching, and support a positive culture.
- Understand departmental budget; assist with capital needs and expenses.
- Ensure compliance with statutory, regulatory and administrative requirements; maintain all state and federal regulations, ASC and departmental policies.
This position reports directly to the Clinical Nurse Manager and is a member of the ASC leadership team. The Clinical Nurse Supervisor is expected to uphold clinical standards of practice, comply with regulatory requirements, and demonstrate leadership behaviors consistent with organizational values.
Staffing & Scheduling- Implement the staffing matrix; maintain department schedules to ensure appropriate coverage across all clinical areas.
- Assist manager in reviewing, approving, and tracking vacation, PTO, and leave requests.
- Serve as the designated flex resource, providing direct patient care when staffing shortages occur.
- Oversee accurate timekeeping for hourly staff; review timecards per payroll deadlines and policy.
- Address discrepancies, missed punches, and overtime management proactively.
- Ensure consistent hourly rounding practices across all departments.
- Monitor compliance with patient safety standards and escalation processes.
- Serve as clinical resource for staff regarding patient care concerns and workflow challenges.
- Collaborate with OR Supervisor in assessing Add‑on case requests.
- Actively participate in QI and process improvement initiatives.
- Identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement in patient care and operations.
- Support incident reporting and chart audit completion.
- Collaborate with leadership to implement and evaluate improvement plans, and maintain compliance with regulatory, accreditation, and organizational standards.
