Position DefinitionUnder the direction of the coach, building Athletic Director, building Principal, and district Athletic Director, the Certificate of Clearance (COC) volunteer helps provide a comprehensive athletics program in the specified sport. Responsibilities include conducting practices, overseeing games and game strategy, educating and developing athletes, and complying with WIAA policies and procedures.
Qualifications- Knowledge of the sport or event in which the candidate is applying
- Recent coaching experience, preferably with K-12 athletes
- Current First Aid and CPR certification, or ability to obtain prior to the start date
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Ability to work cooperatively with students and parents from diverse backgrounds
- Support the program's vision emphasizing character development and a positive experience for athletes
- Conduct practices focusing on proper technique and mechanics
- Attend and supervise athletes at games, and execute game strategies
- Teach sportsmanship and appropriate behavior to athletes, parents, and the community
- Organize, supervise, and evaluate practice sessions
- Adhere to WIAA, league, district, and building rules and policies
- Complete required district and WIAA trainings
- Maintain and inventory uniforms and equipment
- Communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and community members
- Work as part of a team and follow the program direction of the Head Coach/Athletic Director
- Model respectful and positive behavior
- Maintain regular attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Work indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions
- Potential exposure to blood and body fluids
- Ability to lift and move objects up to 50 pounds
Alternative requirements and qualifications may be considered. Volunteers may be re-appointed for subsequent years without re-posting. Fingerprint background clearance is valid for two years.
