Eligible employees may accrue sick leave at one hour for every 40 hours worked under Washington State Law. Position TitleHead High School Coach – FAST PITCH SOFTBALL
Qualifications- Current First Aid/CPR card required.
- Current Type II driver's license required.
- Previous high school coaching experience preferred.
- Report to the Building/District Athletic Director/Coordinator.
- Attend all after‑school practices, games, tournaments, and meetings.
- Drive the district van to transport participants.
- Organize and administer the coaching of the team, enforce league, state, and national rules.
- Maintain positive relationships with students, staff, parents, and community, demonstrating respect and professionalism.
- Ensure parental permission forms and physical examinations are completed before athletes begin practice.
- Cooperate with the administration, athletic director, fellow coaches, and students to promote the best interests of the athletic program.
- Assist the Athletic Director in appointment, dismissal, and evaluation of assistant coaches (grades 7‑12).
- Order equipment and supplies in accordance with Evergreen Public Schools policy.
- Verify that all candidates have completed clearance forms, physical examinations, and parental consent forms prior to the first practice.
- Prepare and maintain rosters, eligibility lists, and master eligibility lists.
- Assume responsibility for contestants’ conduct, securing gates, dressing rooms, lockers, and gymnasium facilities before leaving.
- Accompany and supervise the team to and from contests.
- Plan and supervise all practice sessions and collaborate with the Athletic Trainer.
- Ensure students are not given keys to enter buildings when the coach is not present.
- Attend scheduled school meetings or arrange for coverage and report on missed meetings.
- Arrange cleaning, storage, and inventory of uniforms and equipment.
- Complete all State (WIAA) requirements.
- Stay active in professional organizations such as the state coaches association.
- Clarify the letter award policy to athletes and recommend student athletes for special awards.
- Check transportation arrangements with the Building Athletic Director.
- Exercise supervisory control over all program levels.
- Enforce facility regulations and safety precautions.
- Report contest outcomes to the media.
- Maintain records of team and individual accomplishments.
- Recommend additions or improvements for facilities and submit scheduling recommendations for the next year.
