Position: Oncology & Same Day Surgery (SDS) Coder – Coding & Charge Audit
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced Oncology and Same Day Surgery (SDS) Coder to join our Revenue Cycle team. This role covers coding, charge entry, charge auditing, EOB review, and hold list management across oncology and surgical service lines.

The right candidate will be comfortable owning their workflow independently and ensuring every billable service is accurately coded and captured.

Key Responsibilities

Oncology & SDS Coding
Perform accurate medical coding for oncology services including infusion, injection, administration procedures, laboratory services, and surgical oncology procedures
Code Same Day Surgery procedures across relevant CPT ranges in compliance with payer guidelines
Conduct charge entry and charge auditing to ensure all billable services are accurately captured
Identify missed charges, charge omissions, and documentation gaps that impact reimbursement

EOB Review & Payment Variance Analysis
Review Explanation of Benefits (EOBs) to analyze payment details and verify reimbursement accuracy
Investigate payment variances and identify root causes of underpayments or short payments

Hold List Management
Monitor and manage weekly hold lists across oncology and surgery service lines
Resolve surgery hold list requests within defined turnaround timelines in coordination with operational stakeholders

Collaboration & Documentation
Work closely with internal coding, billing, and clinical documentation teams to resolve missing or incomplete documentation
Escalate unresolved issues to appropriate stakeholders in a timely manner

Required Qualifications
Active CPC certification through AAPC
Minimum 3 years of experience in medical coding with hands-on Oncology or SDS coding experience
Strong knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS coding systems

Experience with charge entry, charge auditing, and EOB review
Demonstrated ability to investigate payment variances and manage hold lists

Preferred Experience
Oncology coding: infusion, injection, administration, and surgical oncology procedures
Same Day Surgery (SDS) coding across multiple surgical specialties
Hold list management in a hospital or large group practice setting
Experience working with multi-specialty or hospital outpatient billing environments
