Role Description The Senior Engineer – Plastic Injection Molding will lead and optimize all technical aspects of injection molding operations at the Gujarat facility. This is a full-time, on-site role. Responsibilities include setting up and validating molds, defining process parameters, and ensuring consistent quality and cycle times for production runs. The role involves troubleshooting molding defects, coordinating preventive maintenance with tooling and maintenance teams, and driving root-cause analysis to reduce scrap and downtime.
The senior engineer will collaborate with design, production, and quality teams on new product introductions, mold trials, and engineering changes. Additional responsibilities include maintaining process documentation, training operators and junior engineers, supporting safety and 5S initiatives on the shop floor, and contributing to cost and efficiency improvements.
Qualifications
Strong technical experience in plastic injection molding, including mold setup, process optimization, and troubleshooting molding defects.
Knowledge of mold design fundamentals, materials (thermoplastics, fillers, additives), and their behavior during molding.
Experience with production planning, process standardization, and continuous improvement (e.g., lean manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S).
Familiarity with quality tools and standards such as SPC, root-cause analysis (5 Why, fishbone), and basic understanding of ISO or similar quality systems.
Proficiency in reading technical drawings and using basic measurement instruments (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
Relevant engineering diploma or degree (Mechanical, Plastics, Polymer, or related field) and several years of hands-on injection molding experience, including in a senior or lead role.
Ability to lead and train operators and junior engineers, work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, and communicate clearly on the shop floor.
Willingness to work on-site in Mumbai and support shift or extended hours as needed for critical production or trials.
