Overview Join our dynamic team at the Varennes plant, a center of excellence in power transformer manufacturing. As a Process Technician, you will be part of a technical expert team specializing in vapor-phase drying, oil treatment processes, equipment cooling, combustion gas management, instrument air systems, and various other plant processes. You will play a key role in maintaining product quality and supporting our growth strategy.
You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to improve equipment performance, optimize production methods, and drive innovation. This is an excellent opportunity to deepen your technical expertise, participate in high-impact projects, and contribute to the development of sustainable energy solutions.
How you'll make an impact Monitor and analyze manufacturing processes, interpret data, and take corrective action when issues arise.
Track equipment and process performance indicators and recommend corrective measures.
Coordinate with production for support operations and ensure compliance with instructions (DO, JIBS).
Manage inventories of products (oil, solvents, etc.) and participate in deviation approvals.
Contribute to the design, testing, and upgrading of systems and recipes.
Participate in creating and validating process protocols and train operators on changes.
Draft and update technical documentation and work methods.
Support maintenance and participate in testing and validations (FAT/SAT).
Collaborate on continuous improvement projects to optimize productivity, quality, and efficiency.
Ensure technical knowledge transfer and training for operators and technicians.
Ensure compliance with industrial, safety, quality, and environmental standards, and participate in internal and external audits.
Your background College diploma (DEC) in Mechanical, Chemical, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience.
5 to 10 years of experience in a technical role.
Knowledge of process equipment such as vapor-phase drying with kerosene, oil filtration, degassing, regeneration, and vacuum systems (an asset).
Ability to read and interpret P&, layout plans, piping isometrics, and electrical/control schematics.
Experience in continuous improvement and problem-solving.
Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment.
Bilingual in French and English.
Candidate must already hold a valid work authorization to work for Hitachi Energy in Canada.
Other considerations Full-time position based in Varennes.
Day shift (with flexibility depending on production needs).
Provide remote support for evening, night, and weekend production.
