The Opportunity
Hitachi Energy is seeking a Manufacturing Technician to join our manufacturing team in Varennes. In this hands‑on role, you will be responsible for manufacturing performance, stability, and continuous improvement within an assigned production area. You will spend approximately 50% of your time on the production floor, partnering closely with operations, quality, maintenance, and engineering teams to support safe, efficient, and standardized manufacturing processes.
You will play a key role in resolving production challenges, implementing manufacturing improvements, supporting capital equipment integration, and driving productivity, quality, and cost initiatives. Through data‑driven manufacturing optimization, continuous improvement activities, and collaboration across functions, your work will directly contribute to operational excellence, manufacturing reliability, and the delivery of innovative energy solutions that support a more sustainable and resilient power grid.
How You’ll Make an Impact
Support manufacturing performance, stability, and continuous improvement initiatives within an assigned manufacturing area.
Provide hands‑on technical support on the production floor to resolve manufacturing issues and improve operational efficiency.
Develop, maintain, and improve production standards, work instructions, and business improvement documentation.
Facilitate structured problem‑solving activities, including RCCM, Kaizen, RPS, and ABRA methodologies.
Support APQP deliverables, including PFMEA development and maintenance, to identify and mitigate manufacturing risks.
Participate in capital equipment integration, commissioning, FAT/SAT activities, and manufacturing validation efforts.
Partner with cross‑functional teams to support new product introduction, industrialization activities, and manufacturing readiness.
Monitor KPIs, conduct time studies, and use manufacturing data to identify opportunities for improvements in safety, quality, delivery, and cost.
Responsible to ensure compliance with applicable external and internal regulations, procedures, and guidelines.
Your Background
Candidate must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for Hitachi Energy in Canada.
Technical degree (DEP or DEC) in Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
7 to 15 years of relevant experience.
Experience working in a manufacturing engineering environment is considered an asset.
Knowledge of manufacturing control systems, manufacturing optimization, and continuous improvement practices in a manufacturing environment.
Experience with root cause problem‑solving methodologies, including RCCM, Kaizen, and Lean principles.
Experience supporting capital equipment projects and the ability to interpret process data, KPI metrics, and time studies.
Bilingual (French and English).
