Your new role

This organization is seeking a Senior Accountant | Construction Accountant to join its growing finance function on a full-time, in-office basis.
Reporting directly to the Chief Financial Officer, this role plays a critical part in the accounting operations across multiple development projects and entities.
You will be responsible for the full accounting cycle across multiple real estate developments, including financial reporting, reconciliations, project accounting, lender reporting, GST/HST filings, and supporting external accounting firms during year-end reviews.
This is a dynamic opportunity for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a fast-paced, project-driven environment within the construction and property development sector.

Accounting & Financial Operations
  • Manage and oversee the full accounting cycle for multiple development projects.
  • Input financial data into Sage Business Vision across multiple sets of books.
  • Process Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable, including invoice verification, coding, posting, cheque runs, WSIB/insurance clearance certificates, and issuing billings.
  • Prepare T5018 reporting documentation for external accountants.
  • Manage accounting for multiple entities, including reconciliations, intepany transactions, and journal entries.
  • Prepare credit card and bank reconciliations.
  • Oversee vendor payments, expense reports, and purchase orders.
  • Support year-end financial processes, including preparing working paper files, providing documentation to external accountants, responding to queries, and posting year-end journal entries.
  • Prepare monthly financing draw requests and status reports for lenders; coordinate with project monitors as required.
  • Oversee accounting for two rental properties, including rent reconciliations and rental payment management.
  • Prepare and file GST/HST returns online.
  • Prepare project-related Excel worksheets and finalize Purchaser Workbook templates.
  • Manage annual Builders Risk, Property, and Liability policies and liaise with insurance brokers for updates.
  • Perform additional related duties as assigned.
  • Financial Reporting & Support
  • Produce routine management financial reports.
  • Act as a liaison with external accounting firms and auditors as needed.
  • Administrative Support
  • Maintain organized financial records, project files, and supporting documentation.
  • Provide financial and administrative support to internal teams.
  • What you'll need to succeed
  • 5–10 years of full cycle accounting experience, ideally within construction or property development.
  • Strong experience managing accounting for multiple entities and development projects from start to finish.
  • High rise development experience is an asset.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and Sage Business Vision or similar accounting software.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and adaptability in a growing environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively across teams.
  • Strong written and verbalmunication skills.
  • High level of organization, professionalism, and a team-first attitude.
