About Our Client
Our client is a non‑profit organization seeking an Accounting Manager for a six‑month contract.
About the Opportunity- Oversee all core accounting operations, including general ledger, month‑end and year‑end close, accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash receipts, utilities, cash flow, investments, and capital asset reconciliations, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
- Establish, maintain, and enforce accounting principles, internal controls, charts of accounts, policies, procedures, and systems in accordance with best practices and regulatory requirements.
- Prepare, review, and analyze monthly and annual financial statements, variance analysis, statistical reports, and operational reports for senior management and stakeholders.
- Plan, monitor, and optimize cash flow requirements, authorize cheque signing, approve electronic payments, and manage individualized budgets and cost‑sharing reconciliations.
- Manage and lead the annual financial audit, authorize journal entries, and oversee all government tax filings (HST rebates, charity annual returns, and ministry reports).
- Support the annual budgeting process, including expenditure scheduling, revenue and expense analysis, investigation of budget variances, and recommendation of corrective actions.
- Provide financial analysis and due diligence related to property purchases, sales, leases, housing legislation, and government funding programs.
- Evaluate, maintain, and recommend enhancements to accounting software and financial information systems to improve efficiency and control.
- Lead, train, and evaluate the accounting team, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, compliance with accounting standards, and alignment with organizational goals.
- Demonstrate a positive attitude, professionalism, adaptability, and strong willingness to learn.
- 5–10 years in accounting in an NPO environment
- Supervisory experience of team performing AP, AR, GL work
- Large ERP system experience;
Sage 300 considered an asset - CPA, CMA or CGA designation considered an asset
- Great attitude and willingness to learn
- Budgeting experience considered an asset
