Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Bookkeeper to join our team. In this key role, you will manage full-cycle bookkeeping operations and ensure the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of all financial records in Quick Books. Responsibilities include recording financial transactions, managing accounts receivable and accounts payable, processing cash and cheque payments, maintaining precise financial documentation, preparing and filing tax returns, overseeing payroll and inventory tracking, and generating timely financial reports to support management decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities- Manage full-cycle bookkeeping, ensuring all financial transactions comply with GAAP
- Handle Accounts Receivable and Payable, including invoicing, collections, supplier payments, and reconciliations
- Process bi-weekly payroll, remittances, and maintain accurate employee records
- Perform banking operations—deposits, transfers, wire payments, and monthly bank reconciliations for multiple accounts
- Manage multi-currency transactions (CAD & USD) and maintain accurate cash flow records
- Prepare and file HST, WSIB, and other CRA submissions, and respond to audit inquiries as needed
- Support year-end closing and provide required documentation for external accountants (T2, T4, T5 filings)
- Maintain inventory and costing records, including adjustments, price updates, and periodic reporting
- Liaise with factories, customs brokers, and CBSA on import documentation, duty, and GST payments
- Oversee commission calculations for agents and issue related invoices
- Handle office administration tasks, including insurance updates, expense reports, utilities, and supplier accounts
- Manage credit card, DHL, and online transactions (e.g., Costco portal) and reconcile related expenses
- Utilize Quick Books Desktop for all bookkeeping and reporting functions
- Support annual filings and work closely with legal counsel and management on compliance matters
- Degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred)
- Minimum 2 years of professional bookkeeping experience
- CMA designation (completed or in progress) is considered an asset
- Strong proficiency in Quick Books Desktop and accounting principles
- Proven ability to manage multiple company accounts and handle complex reconciliations
- Excellent organizational skills with high attention to accuracy and detail
- Strong time management and ability to work independently while meeting deadlines
- Solid understanding of GAAP principles, tax filings, and payroll compliance
