Financial Accountant

Position: Financial Accountant at Government of Yukon
Shape financial reporting for Yukoners as a Financial Accountant at Government of Yukon in Whitehorse. Play a key role in preparing financial statements and managing public funds efficiently.

This full-time, temporary position runs until March 31, 2028, requiring 75 hours bi-weekly. As a central figure in the Department of Finance, you'll assist in compiling financial statements for Yukon’s Public Accounts. Your expertise will ensure compliance with accounting standards and support audits, embodying transparency and accountability in public service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare Yukon Government financial statements with supporting documents

• Consolidate multiple entities into a single statement

• Review transactions for compliance with accounting standards

• Prepare T4/T4A forms for non-payroll transactions

• Reconcile Tangible Capital Assets and Asset Retirement Obligations records

Requirements:

• Completion or near completion of an accounting designation

• Experience in public sector accounting and financial reporting

• Familiarity with financial reporting software, especially Case Ware

• Detailed analytical skills under tight deadlines

• Advanced proficiency in Excel functions
