KAPP Infrastructure is a Canadian General Heavy Civil Contractor with 40 years of experience in infrastructure construction projects. We deliver marquee projects in key markets including water distribution, hydro, underground works, large bridge structures, and other major civil works. Work in these markets is delivered in all geographies throughout Ontario and should be thought to include not only traditional project delivery, but all alternative modes such as DB, CMCG and EPCM.

We are conveniently located in Vaughan close to the 407 and 427 directly off Highway 50.

The Role:

Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, the Health & Safety Coordinator will support the delivery of the company’s Safety Program and the achievement of a safe and accident-free workplace. As a member of the safety team, you will proactively administer company and site-specific safe work requirements for works on the site-specific contract and will assist the Safety Department in the development of safety instructional materials.

The Coordinator will also follow direction from the Manager on several Health & Safety initiatives.

Here is what you will focus on:
  • Participate in the development, implementation, review, and continual improvement of the company Occupational Health and Safety Management System (OHSMS) in alignment with ISO 45001.
  • Assist with the development and update of Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs), Safe Work Procedures (SWPs), Field Level Risk Assessments (FLRAs), and project‑specific safety documentation.
  • Confirm all pre‑work health and safety requirements are completed and documented before work begins.
  • Support the Health & Safety Department in developing safety‑related training, instructions, forms, communications, and awareness materials.
  • Review company safety program requirements with employees, subcontractors, supervisors, and workers.
  • Assist with collecting, reviewing, tracking, and maintaining subcontractor health and safety submissions, including JHAs, SWPs, worker training records, certifications, and other required documentation.
  • Conduct new worker orientations and verify that workers have completed required pre‑work and job‑specific safety training.
  • Coordinate and deliver safety training as required for project‑specific hazards and provide guidance to forepersons and supervisors on health and safety requirements.
  • Monitor day‑to‑day jobsite activities to verify compliance with company procedures, applicable legislation, project requirements, and safe work practices.
  • Promptly communicate identified hazards, unsafe conditions, or non‑conformances to supervisors and support corrective actions through to completion.
  • Conduct weekly site inspections using company safety software; review supervisor inspections and ensure corrective actions are assigned, tracked, and closed.
  • Coordinate and/or deliver weekly toolbox talks, maintain attendance records, and confirm topics address current site hazards and operational needs.
  • Promptly report, document, and investigate incidents, near misses, property damage, and hazardous occurrences. Assist with identifying root causes and implementing corrective and preventive actions.
  • Participate in the Joint Health and Safety Committee and support monthly meetings, workplace inspections, meeting minutes, and follow‑up actions.
  • Collect, maintain, and upload health and safety records in accordance with company document‑control requirements.
  • Assist with the implementation and coordination of Return‑to‑Work and modified‑work plans.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly health and safety performance reports, including inspection results, incident trends, corrective actions, training status, and leading indicators.
  • Participate in internal ISO 45001 audits, site audits, and management‑system reviews, and assist with corrective action follow‑up and continual‑improvement initiatives.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, Superintendents, Forepersons, and site teams to identify health and safety requirements for upcoming work activities and changing site conditions.
