We are currently recruiting a Registered Early Childhood Educator to join our Team in Thornhill at the following location: Westmount CI.

This is a temporary position until May 2027. This position is to fill an existing vacancy.

Pay Range:

RECE or Equivalent: $26.07 - $29.79/hour (includes General Operating Grant) plus Wage Enhancement Grant (up to $2.00/hr).

Position Type & Required Availability:

  • Full-Time Full Day Position (40 hours/week):
    Candidates must be available to work a 8-hour shift Monday-Friday to be considered.

Position Summary

To ensure operational and curriculum requirements are met while applying specialized skills and knowledge related to early childhood education. To deliver a developmentally appropriate, inquiry/play based program while ensuring compliance with all internal and external guidelines, policies and procedures. Supports the organization’s vision, mission, and guiding values. This is a fully in-centre position.

Job Responsibilities
  • Applies professional knowledge of child development and current legislative expectations to support a program that is consistent with Ministry of Education requirements.
  • Adheres to the Code of Ethics and Standards of Practice as outlined by the Ontario College of Early childhood Educators.
  • Keeps team and supervisor apprised of compliance issues or problems related to governing regulation and internal policy.
  • Engages with the children and provides a positive learning experience. Provides a range of care including assisting with meals/snacks, toileting, diapering, dressing, etc.
  • Participates in professional development opportunities, staff meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Completes program charts, daily logs, reports, and other administration tasks as required.
  • Provides guidance to assistant educators, students and volunteers as needed.
  • Models expectations for student teachers from colleges, universities, secondary schools, etc. Completes documentation from Educational Institutions as required.
  • Fosters the engagement of and ongoing communication with parents about the program and their children. Attends parent and community meetings as needed.
  • Uses Storypark for pedagogical documentation as a guide for program development.
  • Effectively collaborates and communicates with other team members, school personnel, and outside agencies to help support the needs of all children.
  • Identifies children in need of additional support. Guides parents through the process of accessing resources. Helps design and implement individual support plans as required.
Qualifications and Requirements
  • Diploma or degree in Early Childhood Education from a recognized college or university.
  • At least 18 years of age or older due to licensing requirements.
  • Health assessment and up-to-date record of immunization as outlined by legislation.
