Position

High‑School Chemistry & Biology Teacher/Tutor (Part‑time)

Location

2943 Major Mackenzie Drive Unit 7, Maple, ON (commute to Vaughan/Maple area required)

Job Summary

Oxford Learning, Maple is requesting experienced teacher‑tutors to work during after‑school and evening windows (4:00 pm–8:00 pm) as well as select Saturdays (10:00 am–3:00 pm). The role focuses on delivering pre‑planned lessons to students in grades 9‑12 for chemistry, biology, and mathematics. No lesson planning required; all materials are pre‑prepared. Students will be supported in up to three concurrent learning sessions.

Responsibilities
  • Teach up to three students simultaneously at varying levels.
  • Deliver both in‑person and online instruction where required.
  • Adhere to Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
  • Complete post‑lesson notes and daily student communication updates.
  • Maintain a friendly, professional demeanor at all times.
Schedule
  • Evenings – Monday to Thursday 3:45 pm–8:00 pm (or 3:45 pm–8:00 pm Wednesdays/Thursdays).
  • Saturdays – 10:00 am–2:00 pm (with occasional 3:00 pm).
  • Commitment until end of school year; summer continuation preferred.
Compensation

$20.00 to $21.00 per hour.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or similar certification in a relevant field; fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience considered.
  • Teaching certification is an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of current Grades 9‑12 math and science curricula (including Advanced Functions, algebra, trigonometry, calculus, vectors, physics, chemistry, biology).
  • Experience teaching or tutoring Math and Science at grades 9‑12 (or equivalent).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Strong math skills and ability to guide student understanding.
  • Ability to multitask and manage up to three students concurrently.
  • Vulnerable sector screening mandatory.
