Position Overview

Join Oxford Learning Thornhill as a part‑time French teacher/tutor and help students improve their French language skills in a supportive small‑group setting.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver lessons to up to three students at a time using the provided curriculum.
  • Teach in French, guiding students to develop speaking and comprehension skills.
  • Maintain detailed post‑lesson notes and daily communication updates on student progress.
  • Follow the Oxford Learning methodologies and philosophies.
  • Engage students with interactive coaching techniques and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain a friendly and professional manner at all times.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent certification in a relevant field.
  • Experience teaching or tutoring French to students in Grades 4–12 (or equivalent).
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in French and English.
  • Ability to manage up to three students simultaneously and multitask effectively.
  • Commitment to teaching evenings Monday‑Thursday from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm; availability to continue through the school year and summer is preferred.
  • In‑person teaching required; must be able to commute to the Thornhill location.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Fourth‑year university students with extensive tutoring experience considered.
  • Teaching certification an asset.
  • Good knowledge of the current Grades 4‑12 French core curriculum.
  • Experience with vulnerable sector screening.
Schedule & Compensation

Part‑time evenings Monday‑Thursday 4:00 pm – 7:00 pm. Pay: $17.60 per hour.

Location

110‑7700 Bathurst Street, Thornhill, ON – in‑person teaching required.
