Group SummaryThe Magna Exteriors portfolio includes access systems, exterior trim, modular systems, and front‑end modules, as well as active aerodynamic systems and lightweight structural components for automotive, commercial truck and industrial markets.
Job Responsibilities- Modify existing automation control systems and design, estimate, and commission new systems integrated with robots based on PLCs.
- Implement Safety Category 4 for installations, presses, and robotics work cells; integrate equipment with robots and testing instruments.
- Troubleshoot process problems and participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Maintain automated work cells, mechanical and hydraulic presses.
- Set up and conduct predictive and preventative maintenance programs for required equipment.
- Follow standardized work instructions and procedures; ensure compliance with customer requirements and quality, health and safety, and environmental standards.
- Respond to off‑duty calls and work rotating shifts if required.
- Promote and comply with health, safety, and environmental standards; perform housekeeping duties.
- Attend authorized training to develop relevant job‑related knowledge and skills.
- Perform any other reasonable duty as required or assigned by management.
- Work shift:
Afternoon (2 pm – 10 pm).
- Degree/diploma in Electrical Engineering or Electro‑Mechanical Engineering.
- Certified electrician (asset).
- Minimum 3 years experience in electrical/controls design and PLC/HMI programming, vision systems, robot programming, and troubleshooting.
- Strong MS Office skills.
- Proficient in PLC programming:
Allen Bradley RsLogix 500/5000, Omron Sysmac Studio, Omron CS‑Programmer, Beckhoff, Visual Studio, Factory Talk View Studio, RsView Studio ME. - Knowledge of Ethernet and Device Net communication bus architectures.
- Experience with machine safety circuits, safety PLCs, and ABB Jokab.
- Experience with motion control architectures (Allen Bradley Kinetix, VFD drive systems).
- Experience with barcode scanners or RFID data tracking.
- Hands‑on work in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of the Ontario Electrical Code and electrical circuits.
- Experience with Fanuc, ABB, and Kuka robots (asset).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills.
- Willingness to work overtime as required.
