DMC is currently looking for a Intermediate Engineer, Structural to join our team on a permanent basis, based in Vaughan, Ontario
. The Intermediate Engineer, Structural is responsible for assisting in conceptualizing, planning, coordinating, and executing the structural design of buildings and structures related to underground mining, which includes surface buildings as well as structures and equipment supports located in underground mines.

• Assist in design, engineering, development and review of engineering plans and criteria, and assess the feasibility of proposed plans and projects.
• Participate in the planning and creation of drawings and designs involving detailed analysis and design of structural steelwork, reinforced concrete, masonry, and timber systems.
• Assist with the preparation of structural specifications, design criteria, Scopes of Work documents and trade‑off studies.
• Investigate and resolve problems as they relate to structural engineering, create unique designs and design concepts, and prepare calculations for challenging engineering projects.
• Execute the structural design of buildings and structures related to underground mining, including head frames, buildings, conveyor galleries, crusher stations, bunkers, sinking stages and loading stations.
• Evaluate and review all structural engineering work with senior colleagues before issuing, including calculations and drawings for integration with other disciplines.
• Ensure designs and calculations comply with relevant engineering standards and codes, as well as internal QA/QC requirements.
• Carry out structural audits, evaluate the condition of existing structures, and assess requirements for repair and rehabilitation. Conduct on‑site construction conformance assessments, and liaise with clients and site personnel, as required.
• Take responsibility for aspects of occupational health and safety and environmental matters, over which the individual has control, including adherence to all requirements applicable to DMC.
• Attend internal multi‑disciplinary coordination meetings to align execution of project deliverables and report on status of assigned tasks.
• Execute other engineering tasks that may be assigned, based on project requirements.

• 5+ years structural design experience in mining or heavy industry projects.
• Registered or eligible as a Professional Engineer in Ontario.
• Thorough understanding of current Canadian codes, standards, principles, theories, practices, and applications used for structural engineering in mining or heavy industry.
• Demonstrated ability in design and analysis of structural systems including steelwork, reinforced concrete, timber and masonry to Canadian design codes and standards.
• Knowledge of FEA structural design and analysis software, such as RISA 3D or similar.
• Knowledge of BIM software such as Revit & Navisworks is an asset.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Team player able to work in a multidisciplinary team of engineers and designers.
• Experience in the mining industry is an asset but not mandatory.

• Salary Range is expected to be between: $ CAD to $ CAD.
