We are growing! Traff Mobility is seeking a Transportation Design Engineer in our Roadway Design and Traffic Management team.

We are looking for a self-motivated, curious, enthusiastic problem solver who likes to apply critical thinking in solving diverse transportation engineering problems we face today. As a Transportation Design Engineer, you will play a critical role in supporting a variety of transportation projects that involve roadway design, traffic management, construction staging design, development site plan review, and the preparation of roadway design tender documents.

Role & Responsibilities
  • Lead the preparation of conceptual, preliminary, and detailed design tasks for the road elements on transportation projects
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders and multi-disciplinary leads to prevent and resolve design conflicts
  • Attend and contribute to meetings with clients or external stakeholders
  • Participate in functional reviews of development projects to ensure site plan layout is compliant with relevant municipal parking and load design requirements
  • Lead swept path analysis using AutoCAD or AutoTURN software as part of site operations review
  • Lead the development of traffic management plans, traffic control plans, bike detour plans, and other temporary traffic condition designs as relevant to road reconfiguration/closures
  • Provide design support in traffic and planning studies, wherever required
  • Accountable for all quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and development design specifications as part of the tender contract preparation process
  • Performs other design duties of a similar nature and level, as assigned
  • Lead and conduct site investigations and safety assessments, as required
  • Optimize design and drafting processes and train technical staff to deliver quality submissions
  • Lead and support in the preparation of proposals
Qualifications
  • A graduate of a Canadian Civil Engineering bachelor’s degree program or equivalent
  • Licensed Professional Engineer with 4+ years of experience in the Transportation Sector
  • Competent in performing detailed roadway designs and contract document preparation
  • Demonstrate strong capabilities with AutoCAD or Micro Station, Civil 3D or Open Roads
  • Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite including Word, Excel, Project, and Power Point
  • Demonstrate ability to perform individually or as a team member with effective time management and organization skills
  • Demonstrate understanding of project constraints including budget and schedule
  • Have strong attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and communication skills including both technical writing and oral communication
  • Self motivated and willing to take on new challenges and learn new skills
  • Demonstrate leadership skills and willingness to train support staff
