Modern Technical Staffing (MTS) is recruiting an Electrical Engineering Technologist for a leading engineering organization focused on rapid prototyping, hardware development, and qualification testing. This role is ideal for a hands?on, practical technologist who enjoys building, testing, troubleshooting, and supporting new electrical hardware in a fast?paced engineering environment.
About the Role
The Electrical Engineering Technologist will work closely with Electrical Designers to support prototype builds, test fixture development, component procurement, and laboratory upkeep. This is a highly technical, hands?on position requiring strong practical skills in electronics assembly, cable harnessing, soldering, and operation of standard electrical test equipment.
Key Responsibilities

Build test fixtures, load boxes, and cable harnesses for qualification testing of new electrical hardware.

Assemble, operate, and troubleshoot engineering?grade test fixtures under the guidance of Electrical Designers.

Support procurement, kitting, and tracking of electronic components for rapid prototype PCBA builds.

Work with Electrical Designers and procurement specialists to assess component suitability, availability, and equivalency.

Maintain laboratory stock, tools, and equipment; support calibration and registration of frequently used devices.

Assist with hands?on prototype assembly, wiring, and testing activities as required.

Required Qualifications

Electrical Engineering Technologist diploma (or higher) or equivalent technical training.

Strong hands?on electrical experience, including prototype builds and practical troubleshooting.

Experience in a research, engineering, or rapid?prototyping environment.

Demonstrated ability to build cable harnesses and perform SMD/through?hole soldering.

Proficiency with standard electrical development tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and function generators.

Preferred Assets

Eligibility or membership with a certified technologist association (e.g., OACETT).

Experience using Electrical or Mechanical CAD software.

Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently in a fast?paced engineering lab.
