Electronics Engineer Associate

GSCI Advanced Photonics designs and manufactures mission‑critical electro‑optical systems used in military and law enforcement operations worldwide.

Position Overview
We are seeking an Electronics Engineer Associate to support the design and development of embedded and mixed‑signal electronic systems. This is a hands‑on engineering role focused on hardware design, embedded firmware, validation, and product development within electro‑optical platforms.

Key Responsibilities
1. Hardware & Embedded Development

Design, develop, and validate mixed‑signal electronic systems.

Perform schematic capture and PCB layout support from concept through production.

Develop embedded firmware in C (and Assembly where required), primarily for microcontroller‑based systems (e.g., AVR or similar architectures).

Implement and debug low‑level communication protocols (UART, I²C, SPI).

2. Power & System Design

Design and evaluate switching regulators, PMICs, and battery management circuits.

Support low‑power system optimization for portable and battery‑powered products.

4. Testing & Validation

Perform hands‑on troubleshooting using oscilloscopes, multimeters, and programmable power supplies.

Conduct functional validation and performance testing.

Analyze collected data and assist in root‑cause investigations.

5. Documentation & Configuration Management

Prepare design documentation, test reports, and engineering change documentation.

Maintain version control using Git.

Ensure technical records are accurate and current.

Work closely with mechanical, optical, firmware, and production teams.

Support prototype builds, bring‑up, and iterative product refinement.

Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and new product development efforts.

Required Qualifications

Degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or related discipline.

1–3 years of experience in electronics design and embedded systems development.

Experience in mixed‑signal PCB design (schematic to layout).

Proficiency in embedded C programming.

Experience with switching regulators and power system design.

Familiarity with Git or other version control systems.

Nice to Have

Experience with low‑power portable systems.

Digital video pipelining, processing and interface experience (BT.656, DPI, MIPI).

Experience in electro‑optical systems or defense‑related industries.

3D modeling experience.

Clear technical communication.

Strong analytical and critical thinking capability.

Ability to manage multiple concurrent engineering tasks.

Detail‑oriented execution and disciplined documentation practices.

Reliable attendance and consistent on‑site engagement.

Salary Range
CAD 75,000 to 85,000, depending on experience
