Permanent full time, non-unionized position in the Development Engineering Department.
Position Overview
Responsible for supervising municipal services inspection, assumption, and permitting functions for development projects, managing the daily operation of the Development Inspection and Lot Grading Division, responding to inquiries from Council, public, staff, and external agencies, liaising with developers, contractors, and City staff, and administering the annual Divisional Operating Budget.
Qualifications and Experience
There are two alternative qualification paths for this position:
Community College Diploma Path
Community College diploma in Civil Engineering Technology.
Eligibility for or full membership in the Ontario Association of Certified Engineering Technologists and Technician as a certified Engineering Technologist with a C.E.T. designation.
Minimum of seven (7) years of proven, progressive, responsible municipal services engineering inspection, municipal contract administration, and municipal infrastructure assumption experience.
Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience or suitable equivalent, preferably in a municipal or unionized environment.
Competent by completing a recognized Confined Space Entry course (e.g. Construction Safety Association, Municipal Health & Safety Association).
Certified in Emergency First Aid and CPR.
Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
Valid Ontario Class G driver's licence in good standing.
Working knowledge of Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation (MTO) and Ontario Traffic Manual traffic control practices (OTM, MUTCD) and other municipal policies for construction practice.
Completion of road, sewer, watermain, etc. inspection and/or contract administration courses offered by the MTO, MOE, OGRA, or other industry associations or registered training institutions.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
University Degree Path
University degree in Civil Engineering.
Eligibility for or full membership in the Professional Engineers Association of Ontario as a professional engineer with P.Eng designation.
Minimum of five (5) years of proven, progressive, responsible municipal services engineering inspection, municipal contract administration, and municipal infrastructure assumption experience.
