Job Description
Step into a senior technical leadership role shaping the next generation of urban rail. As a Senior Systems Integration Engineer , you’ll play a critical role in delivering a major rail extension project, ensuring complex new‑build systems integrate seamlessly with live, operational transit infrastructure.
Your Impact- Lead systems integration planning and execution across complex, multi‑disciplinary rail and transit projects.
- Define and manage systems architecture, interfaces, and integration strategies across the full engineering lifecycle.
- Coordinate signaling, communications, traction power, SCADA, control centre, and related subsystems to ensure seamless interoperability.
- Define and manage interfaces through Interface Control Documents (ICDs), Interface Definition Documents (IDDs), and traceability artifacts.
- Drive interface management, verification, and validation activities aligned with progressive design‑build milestones.
- Facilitate technical workshops and interface resolution sessions with designers, contractors, vendors, operators, and clients.
- Ensure compliance with system requirements, industry standards, and client expectations through robust traceability and governance.
- Engage directly with clients to resolve technical issues and align expectations.
- Mentor junior engineers and specialists, fostering technical excellence and collaborative delivery.
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, or related Engineering discipline from an accredited university.
- Registered as an Engineer‑in‑Training (EIT) or licensed P.Eng. in Canada.
- INCOSE Certification such as ASEP or CSEP would be an asset.
- 8+ years of experience in transit, rail, or other safety‑critical engineering environments.
- Strong command of Systems Engineering principles, including V‑model lifecycle, interface definition, and integration planning.
- Hands‑on experience with systems integration for complex rail or transit projects.
- Working knowledge of ISO/IEC 15288, IEEE 1220, RAMS, and system safety certification processes.
- Experience supporting Verification & Validation (V&V) activities (FAT, SAT, SIT, test planning).
- Knowledge of CENELEC standards and Metrolinx Schedule 29 is an asset.
- Familiarity with Requirements Management and Integration using tools like IBM DOORS.
- Ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly to both technical and non‑technical stakeholders.
