Join WSP’s Rail Systems Engineering team as a Senior Systems Requirements Engineer , where you’ll play a critical role in shaping a major urban rail extension in the GTA. This high‑profile project involves the complex integration of new systems infrastructure with existing, operational transit networks—requiring precision, collaboration, and systems thinking at the highest level.
Working alongside Chief Engineers, Project Managers, and multi‑disciplinary specialists, you’ll help define requirements processes, lead technical activities, and influence how large‑scale rail systems are delivered—safely, efficiently, and sustainably.
Your Impact- Lead systems requirements management activities for a major urban rail extension project, ensuring alignment across design, delivery, and stakeholder teams
- Administer and govern the requirements repository in IBM DOORS Next Generation (NG), maintaining configuration control and end‑to‑end traceability
- Analyze, decompose, allocate, and trace requirements across multiple engineering disciplines and design phases
- Ensure requirements remain aligned with the Project Agreement, scope, cost, and schedule throughout the project lifecycle
- Manage and document changes in accordance with established change management processes
- Collaborate closely with signals, communications, traction power, SCADA, and other rail systems specialists
- Support compliance, verification, and validation activities across the V‑Model lifecycle
- Mentor and share systems engineering best practices with team members, strengthening capability across the project
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems, Electrical, or a related Engineering discipline from an accredited university
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) licence in Ontario
- Minimum 8 years of experience in transit, rail, or other safety‑critical industries
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Systems Engineering, with demonstrated requirements management expertise
- Strong working knowledge of Systems Engineering processes, V‑Model lifecycle, and requirements allocation
- Hands‑on experience using requirements management tools, including IBM DOORS NG
- Familiarity with rail systems such as signalling, SCADA, communications, traction power, and OCS
- Experience working in multi‑disciplinary engineering teams on large, complex infrastructure projects
- INCOSE certification (ASEP or CSEP) considered a strong asset
- Familiarity with Metrolinx Design Standards and Manuals considered an asset

AB, BC, NT, NU, SK & YT: $135,200 – $179,100
MB & ON: $123,300 – $169,800
NB, NL, NS, PE & QC: $122,100 – $162,200
The final salary awarded for this role may vary from the above range based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, and business or organizational needs. The wage range provided in this job posting may be subject to change for business purposes.
