Job Description & How to Apply Below
The Mechanical Designer will play a key role in the development of Plastic Injection Moulded HVAC components and assemblies for specialized vehicle applications, supporting projects from initial concept through to production. Working closely with engineering leadership, project management, and cross-functional teams, the successful candidate will be responsible for creating detailed 3D models and production drawings, translating engineering requirements into practical and cost-effective designs, and ensuring all outputs meet internal standards as well as customer and regulatory requirements.
The role also involves active participation in new product development initiatives, engineering change processes, and continuous improvement efforts, along with collaboration with suppliers to ensure manufacturability and alignment with production capabilities.
In addition to core design responsibilities, the Mechanical Designer will develop and maintain key engineering documentation (including DFMEAs and bills of materials), manage drawing releases through document control systems, and provide technical support to manufacturing teams through fixture, jig, and gauge design. A strong focus on design for manufacturability and cost optimization is essential, as is the ability to contribute to quoting activities through material selection, process input, and feasibility assessments.
Our ideal candidate will hold a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline and bring a minimum of 5 years of hands-on mechanical design experience, with deep experiences within plastic moulded design and manufacturing environments.
Experience with HVAC systems will be considered an asset. Proficiency in 3D CAD software such as Autodesk Inventor, a strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawing standards, and familiarity with ISO quality frameworks are important for a Candidate's success in this role. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, the ability to work independently, and a practical, problem-solving mindset in a fast-paced environment.
Our Client’s preferred Salary Target is $75 000 - $90 000 and we encourage all applicants interested in this opportunity to apply. Please note, the hiring salary will be based on the selected candidate’s experience and ability to support the organization.
At Kitchener Executive Consultants Inc., we provide a bespoke and personalized recruitment experience where every candidate’s application is reviewed by our team of Search Consultants and measured to our clients’ specific hiring criteria and requirements.
