Position: Senior Designer (NOC: 21301)

Flynn Canada Ltd. is currently recruiting for a Senior Designer to fill 2 vacancies in our Toronto and surrounding area (6435 Northwest Drive, Mississauga, Ontario, L4V 1K2).

Responsibilities
  • Recognize and solve basic and advanced Curtain wall/Window detailing issues; demonstrate understanding of basic curtain wall construction methods.
  • Read and understand Architectural and Structural Drawings.
  • Foresee, solve and address curtain wall issues as they arise.
  • Read and review specifications providing input for potential risks.
  • Organize and schedule projects and draftspersons.
  • Resolve outstanding drawing issues and pursue contract clarifications as required.
  • Supervise, coach, mentor and provide feedback to Jr. Draftsperson(s).
  • Plan and execute Curtain Wall/Window shop and fabrication drawings with input from the design team.
  • Ensure all aspects of the project have been addressed and conveyed into the final shop drawing package.
  • Plan the execution of projects through correspondence with Estimating, Project Manager(s), and the Design/Construction teams.
  • Demonstrate understanding of building science, construction, and sequencing in all design deliverables.
  • Check fabrication releases.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, building science or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience designing curtain wall components and systems for large scale commercial building projects.
Skills and Knowledge
  • Proficient with AutoCAD, Revit, Inventor and other design software.
  • Previous experience working with cross-functional teams and multiple stakeholders.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to meet project deliverables and timelines.
Terms of Employment
  • Salary ranging from $130,000 to $145,000 annually.
  • Hours:

    40 hours per week.
  • Vacation: 4 weeks (20 days).
  • Benefits include:
