Overview
Job Summary: A leading building materials distribution company is seeking an experienced Controller to lead financial operations, reporting, and controls. This role drives financial accuracy, insight, and operational efficiency across the business and is well suited to candidates with hands-on experience in inventory-driven distribution environments, customer rebates, logistics, and ERP systems.

Salary$100,000-$120,000 per year
Primary Accountabilities- Maintain complete ownership of the trial balance, ensuring precision, reconciliation and integrity across all accounts
- Provide leadership and daily guidance to the Finance Department
- Ensure all accounting transactions are accurately recorded in a timely manner, adhering to GAAP standards
- Prepare month-end journal entries and accruals
- Execute month-end accounting tasks, including balance sheet reconciliations
- Support year-end closing activities
- Reconcile intercompany accounts
- Review the daily cash position
- Oversight of payables department including payroll processing
- Assist in analyzing and evaluating operating expenses
- Act as a back-up for accounting staff as needed
- Resolve complex accounting issues using generally accepted accounting principles
- Demonstrate proficiency with accounting software and systems
- Consistently meets deadlines
- Interpret and analyze large volumes of financial data
- Effectively manage multiple priorities and tasks
- Perform other duties as required by the business
- Minimum Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field required
- Public Accounting experience preferred
- Holds a CPA designation
- 5+ years of experience in financial accounting in the distribution industry
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Excellent analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills
- Experience with Dynamics 365 Business Central is considered an asset
- Strong business acumen with the desire to see beyond the number
- Excellent communication skills and comfortable interacting with all levels of management
- Ability to work independently and in a fast-paced team environment
The salary range provided reflects the expected compensation for this role and is intended as a guide. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and job-related factors. Where applicable, the range includes base salary and any non-discretionary commissions or incentive pay.
