The Manager - AR is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the accounts receivable. This position is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate processing with keen attention to detail, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced office environment.
KEYACCOUNTABILITIES
- Control and manage the invoicing, credit notes/returns, and collections process while assessing credit risks for each customer by monitoring payment trends and average payment days
- Control and manage compliance dispute process for home centers, present meaningful findings to senior management with proposed solution
- Review and submit high-risk customer status reports to management weekly
- Maintain and review ON HOLD customers. Minimize Company risk and balance customer satisfaction
- Ensuring that new customers are set up in a timely matter and all credit checks are completed thoroughly
- Ensuring that daily Wire, EFT, ACH, and Cheques are entered daily into SAP
- Responsible for the month-end close for the Finance team to complete the financial reporting of stand-alone and consolidated financial statements on quarterly basis
- Responsible for maintaining and clearing all A/R and sales control accounts on a monthly basis and assist with the required closing entries
- Assists in the coordination of year-end audit, preparations of financial reporting and KPI packages on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis, including detailed monthly financial variance analysis and reports
- Streamlines and improves accounting procedures and processes in the accounts receivable to reduce financial statement turnaround time while ensuring adequate internal controls are in place
- Develop, coach, and mentor the AR team to ensure strong performance and professional growth
- Coordinate and distribute AR workloads effectively to balance capacity, meet deadlines and maintain service levels.
- Update and maintain documentation manuals of all A/R business processes
- Contribute to the development of policies and/or procedures governing financial reporting
- Performs other projects and duties as assigned.
- Post-secondary education in Accounting or Finance required
- A minimum 5 years of AR management experience required
- Mixed medium to large public and private company experience is a strong asset
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively, multitask accurately, and execute successfully with exceptional quantitative and analytical skills
- Excellent English communication and presentation skills required, both verbal and written, with demonstrated ability to interact, negotiate and liaise with various representatives and levels
- Required meaningful understanding of complex data, conducting analysis and translating it into information to be used by various levels in the organization
- Must have strong PC and ERP skills, particularly with MS Excel, SAP and various querying tools
- Must be extremely organized and committed to producing quality work in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated the ability to work independently to complete projects to deadlines, interpreting instructions accurately and working methodically under pressure, paying extra attention to the fine details
- Demonstrated experience and ability working with complex information as related to analysis, problem solving, and developing effective solutions
- Demonstrated ability to receive nominal direction regarding work responsibilities, discretion and judgement must be exercised in translating broad organizational goals into specific objectives
- Demonstrated ability to provide direction regarding very complex work that has general objectives and provides guidance and consultation to senior management
- Accountable for 6-7 employees
- Flexible to adjust working hours as needed to support business objectives
- Demonstrated understanding that work contributions have a direct influence beyond the immediate department and as such duties can result in significant loss of time, financial loss, and effect the morale of other employees
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and collectively across the organization, customers, or others outside the organization
- Understanding that work efforts will have a moderate effect on the employer brand or public reputation, as such behavior and communications shall be professional and accurate at all times
- All work is performed in a standard office environment with limited exposure to adverse conditions or health and safety risks.
- Position requires a high level of sustained visual attention, moderate manual dexterity on a regular basis with sitting at length.
