Title: Senior Financial Analyst

Total Potential Compensation: $80,000- $120,000

Position Summary:

The successful candidate will be assisting in the facilitation, preparation and analysis of the annual budget and quarterly forecasts with a focus on expenditures management. Other duties include working with departments on business case and intake form preparation and provide financial analysis. This job requires the preparation of complex financial models through Excel and regular liaison with the heads of all departments.

The role reports directly to the Manager of Financial Planning and Analysis and will provide support to the CFO and Director of Finance to drive cost management alignment and long-term strategic plan across the organization.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and consolidate the planning processes, including annual budget, quarterly forecast and projection to ensure operating and capital plans are prepared on a timely and collaborative basis that aligns with the corporate long-term strategic plan.

  • Liaison with other departments during quarterly planning exercises and monthly operating reviews.

  • Preparation of presentations and reports for Finance department, Senior Management and Shareholders on a monthly and quarterly basis.

  • Advance use of Excel and other modeling and corporate financial planning applications.

  • Assist in creating improvements in the end-to-end financial planning process and cost management framework.

  • Provide support to the various departments and perform financial analysis for the intake forms and business cases process and continuously identify areas of improvements with the current processes and recommend solutions to any issues that arise.

  • Work collaboratively with all departments to provide ongoing financial planning and analysis support, perform post mortem analysis on completed initiatives to identify areas of improvements on analysis of future initiatives to manage cost according to plan and identify cost savings opportunities.

  • Protect and ensure financial information is kept confidential.

  • Ensure full compliance with the company’s Health, Safety & Environmental, Code of Integrity, and Professional Conduct policies.

  • Other duties, tasks and projects as assigned.

  • Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Graduate degree from an accredited college or university, preferably with a degree in business administration (finance and accounting), or a related field.

  • Minimum 5 years working experience in an accounting or finance environment, exposure to financial planning, modeling and analysis is required.

  • Experience in financial reporting is preferred

  • CPA designation is necessary.

  • Sound judgment and decision-making.

  • Exceptional negotiations and collaboration skills in a team setting.

  • Organizational skills and time management skills; planning and project management, and ability to meet multiple deadlines.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with excellent presentation skills.

  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills to articulate quantitative and qualitative results.

  • Exceptional working knowledge of MS applications including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience with People Soft Financials and Hyperion Planning is considered an asset.

  • Ability to work independently under pressure to produce a high quality and quantity of work product.

  • Ability to work effectively in cross-functional work teams, fast-paced and collaborative environment, and able to meet targets and tight deadlines.
