This is a Fractional role - 3 days/week for 6 months. We are seeking an experienced Fractional Controller to provide strategic financial leadership and hands-on oversight for a growing distribution company. This role will oversee accounting operations, inventory controls, cash flow management, and financial reporting, while partnering closely with ownership and operations to drive profitability and operational efficiency.
The ideal candidate brings deep experience in distribution, inventory-intensive environments, and understands margin management, working capital optimization, and process discipline required in fast-paced product businesses.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Oversight & Reporting
Oversee monthly, quarterly, and annual close processesPrepare and review financial statements (P& L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)Ensure accuracy of inventory valuation and cost of goods sold (COGS)Develop KPI dashboards (gross margin, inventory turns, aging, fill rates, etc.)Provide variance analysis and actionable insights to leadershipInventory & Cost Control
Implement and monitor inventory controls and cycle count processesEnsure proper costing methodology (standard cost, FIFO, weighted average as applicable)Analyze shrinkage, obsolescence, and slow-moving inventoryOptimize gross margins through cost analysis and pricing supportCash Flow & Working Capital Management
Forecast cash flow and manage liquidityImprove AR collections and manage AP processesMonitor working capital drivers (inventory days, DSO, DPO)Support banking relationships and reporting requirements
