Senior Financial Analyst

Our client, an established, growing distributor with multiple branches, is looking for a Senior Financial Analyst to join its finance team. You will turn financial and operational results into clear, decision-ready insight for management, building the reports, models and dashboards that show how the business is performing. The role combines analysis and reporting with hands-on involvement in the month-end close.

• Analyze monthly results against budget, prior year, forecast and historical trends, investigate unusual results and explain significant variances
• Prepare management reporting packages, financial and operational metrics and performance dashboards
• Build and maintain financial models, Power BI dashboards and other reporting tools
• Support annual budgets, forecasts, scenario analysis and long-term financial planning
• Complete ad hoc financial and operational analysis to support management decisions
• Participate in the month-end close, including financial statements, selected journal entries, account reconciliations and supporting schedules
• Support year-end audit preparation and auditor requests
• Take on related projects as needed

• CPA designation, or near completion of it preferred
• 5+ years of relevant experience in financial analysis; distribution industry experience is an asset
• Strong understanding of financial accounting and ASPE
• Advanced Excel skills, including financial modelling and repeatable reporting tools (experience building reports and dashboards in Power BI or Tableau)
• Proven ability to investigate variances, find the underlying causes and recommend solutions
• Strong initiative, organization and time management, with the ability to meet strict deadlines
