The Maintenance Aide performs semi-skilled maintenance duties related to electrical, heating, mechanical, and plumbing systems and building equipment. They assist with general maintenance of the residence and may help with construction projects.

• Immediate repair of defective equipment affecting resident care (e.g., beds, chairs). If unable to repair, report to the Environmental Services Manager.
• Regulate and repair taps, toilets, etc. Unstop taps and drains as needed.
• Conduct routine inspections of lighting. Repair fixtures, replace bulbs, connect fixtures to outlets, and replace ballasts.
• Test electrical circuits, equipment, and appliances using pre-set instruments.
• Assist in repairing and maintaining electrical and mechanical equipment (e.g., pressure vessels, pumps, fans, motors, boilers).
• Perform minor carpentry projects as required.

• One to two years of experience in a related capacity.
• Working knowledge of WHMIS.
• Grade 12 Diploma with some related technical training.
