Our client, an established manufacturer serving the industrial and commercial markets, is seeking a Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance department and ensure the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of all plant equipment and facilities. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for building structure, improving uptime, and implementing preventive maintenance programs to support continuous production. The successful candidate will lead a small team, drive improvement initiatives, and collaborate cross-functionally to support both day-to-day operations and long-term reliability goals.
The Role:
- Lead all plant maintenance operations, including troubleshooting, repairs, and preventive programs across mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Develop and implement a comprehensive preventive and predictive maintenance strategy to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
- Schedule and prioritize work orders using a maintenance management system (CMMS) to ensure timely completion.
- Support technicians with complex troubleshooting, providing technical guidance and mentoring.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Engineering, and Scheduling to align maintenance activities with operational needs.
- Oversee equipment installations, upgrades, and facility improvements.
- Manage spare parts inventory and vendor relationships to balance readiness with cost efficiency.
- Monitor maintenance performance metrics (uptime, MTBF, downtime) and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Lead and coach a team of maintenance technicians, fostering engagement, accountability, and a safety-first mindset.
- Ensure compliance with company safety policies, regulatory standards, and best practices in environmental health and safety.
- Contribute to capital planning and assist in managing the maintenance budget.
- Promote continuous improvement and implement best practices through Lean or TPM initiatives.
The Ideal Candidate:
- Post-secondary education in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, or a related technical field (degree or diploma).
- Minimum 5 years of progressive maintenance management experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment. 1+ years of prior leadership experience is preferred.
- Strong technical background in mechanical systems; working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Proven success implementing preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
- Proficiency with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and data-driven maintenance planning.
- Hands-on leader with strong communication, coaching, and team-building skills.
- Demonstrated experience with root cause analysis, troubleshooting, and process improvement.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Total Productive Maintenance (TPM) considered an asset.
- Strong budgeting, analytical, and project management capabilities.
- Detail-oriented, proactive, and adaptable in a fast-paced production environment.
