Production Manager, Manufacturing & Industrial Operations
Role Description
Production Manager oversees daily bakery production operations, ensuring products meet quality, food safety, and consistency standards while meeting volume and delivery targets. Responsibilities include planning and scheduling production runs, managing the supervisory team and coaching production teams, and coordinating with maintenance, quality assurance, and logistics to minimize downtime and optimize efficiency. The role involves monitoring inventory levels of raw materials and packaging, implementing continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring adherence to SQF, Kosher, and safety requirements.
The Production Manager also tracks key performance indicators, prepares reports for leadership, and supports new product and packaging launches.
- Experience in food manufacturing or bakery production management, including overseeing production lines and teams in a fast-paced environment, minimum 5 years experience.
- Strong knowledge of food safety GMP, quality standards, and regulatory compliance (e.g., SQF, HACCP, Kosher, allergen controls, workplace health and safety).
- Skills in production planning, scheduling, and inventory management to ensure efficient use of resources and on-time order fulfillment.
- Leadership abilities to coach, develop, and engage production staff, with a focus on communication, teamwork, and conflict resolution.
- Analytical and problem-solving skills for monitoring KPIs, identifying operational issues, and driving process and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Comfort with using manufacturing systems, spreadsheets, and reporting tools to track production data and performance.
- Ability to work on-site, adapt to changing priorities, and manage multiple deadlines in a high-volume environment.
- Relevant education such as a diploma or degree in food science, operations management, industrial engineering, or a related field is an asset.
- Experience in large-scale bakery, CPG, or similar manufacturing operations and familiarity with private label or branded product environments are beneficial.
