Glass Polishing Operator, Evening Shift

Job Summary A Polishing Operator is required to ensure the safe, efficient operation of a glass polishing machine. The operator will handle upright polishing equipment that grinds and polishes the edge of glass. Glass arrives on carts and is loaded onto the machine by hand or via an overhead crane. Each side of the glass is polished to remove rough or sharp edges before being loaded onto carts for transport to the next fabrication step.
Operators must work with great concentration and precision, comply with all safety guidelines, and possess a keen eye for detail and strong mechanical aptitude.
Duties/Responsibilities Always operate a polishing machine and overhead crane in a safe manner.
Regularly use a tape measure to ensure that polished glass meets the specified dimensions on tickets.
Follow preventive maintenance procedures such as cleaning and lubricating equipment.
Conduct pre‑ and post‑shift machine inspections and cleaning.
Polish various sizes of glass efficiently.
Ensure that glass is polished smoothly and within company quality standards.
Keep the work area clean.
Required Skills/Abilities Glass knowledge is an asset.
Must be able to do basic math.
Highly punctual.
Able to work as a functioning member of a team.
Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
Ability to work independently in a busy setting.
Experience with routine maintenance operations.
Basic computer skills.
Education and Experience High school diploma, GED, or equivalent preferred.
Machine operator experience preferred.
Physical Requirements Prolonged periods of walking and standing.
Must be able to lift more than 50 lbs. on a regular basis.
Safety equipment required (e.g., steel‑toed safety boots, safety glasses/goggles).

Pay $18.50–$26.00 per hour
