Reporting to the Operations Manager, this position is responsible for supervising operations and maintenance of building, facility, plant, amenities, utilities (HVAC, Compressed Air, Ammonia, Boiler systems) to provide a safe and reliable operation that meets internal & regulatory requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
· Lead by example to foster a culture of zero accidents or incidents, ensuring safety is a non-negotiable priority across all operations.
· Supervise and coordinate the operation, inspection, and maintenance of heating, refrigeration, and utility systems, ensuring optimal performance and compliance with technical and safety codes.
· Develop and manage work schedules and inspection routines for refrigeration operators, ensuring alignment with regulatory standards and plant safety protocols.
· Ensure compliance with legislative safety requirements, delivering clear instruction and enforcing plant safety rules to protect employee health and wellbeing.
· Facilitate and support training programmes that enhance technical knowledge and safety awareness, aligned with departmental development plans.
· Manage and direct facility maintenance upgrades and repairs, overseeing both operational and capital expenditures while maintaining budgetary discipline.
· Collaborate with site leadership to shape and execute long-term strategic plans for infrastructure and operational improvements.
· Drive cost and waste reduction initiatives that enhance efficiency without compromising operational integrity or product quality.
· Maintain a deep understanding of waste and utility systems supporting the site’s manufacturing processes, identifying opportunities for optimisation.
· Promote positive union-management relations through proactive problem-solving and correct administration of the Collective Agreement. . Lead the facility’s Process Safety Management (PSM) program in close collaboration with the SHE department. . Serve as the factory’s technical authority for ammonia and boiler systems, representing the site in discussions with corporate and global engineering teams. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
· Refrigeration A license. License to operate boilers.
· Diploma or B.S. degree in a manufacturing, scientific or engineering related discipline, Chemical or Process engineering is strongly preferred.
· Strong technical background with basic understanding of process controls & automation
· At least 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably in food manufacturing.
· Thorough knowledge of Facilities Maintenance/Management and how to proactively maintain the overall health of the building and equipment is preferred
· Passionate about delivering consistent excellence.
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to exercise sound judgment, tact and discretion when dealing with others both internally and externally (Contractors, Auditors, Customers).
