We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Sewing Machine Operator to join our production team. This position is responsible for sewing curtains, drapery, and related soft furnishings in accordance with provided specifications, measurements, and quality standards. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience working with a variety of fabrics, operates industrial sewing machines efficiently, and consistently produces high-quality finished products particularly with pinch pleat, Roman pleat, and box pleat styles
.
- Operate industrial sewing machines to sew curtains, drapes, valances, and other window treatments
- Measure, cut, hem, pleat, and assemble fabric pieces according to work orders and patterns
- Sew pinch pleat, Roman pleat, and box pleat curtains with precision and consistency
- Sew linings, headers, pleats, grommets, and other curtain components accurately
- Read and interpret production instructions, measurements, and specifications
- Ensure consistent stitch quality, proper alignment, and professional finishes on all products
- Inspect finished items for defects and make corrections as necessary
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation while following all safety procedures
- Perform basic sewing machine maintenance, including threading, tension adjustments, and routine cleaning
- Meet production targets while maintaining established quality standards
- Collaborate with supervisors and team members to ensure deadlines are met
Skills & Qualifications
- Previous experience as a sewing machine operator, preferably in curtains, drapery, or soft furnishings
- Proven experience sewing pinch pleat, Roman pleat, and box pleat curtains
- Proficiency in operating industrial sewing machines (single-needle, blind stitch, or similar)
- Strong measuring, cutting, and fabric-handling skills
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
- Basic math skills for measurements and fabric calculations
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Experience with pleating systems, grommets, and drapery hardware
- Knowledge of various fabric types, including sheers, blackout, velvet, and linen
- Familiarity with production or custom-order environments
- Experience meeting daily or weekly production quotas
- Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
- Manual dexterity for handling fabric and operating sewing equipment
- Ability to lift and move fabric rolls or finished curtains within reasonable limits
- Good vision for detailed and precise sewing work
- Production or workshop setting
- Regular use of industrial sewing equipment
- Full-time position
- Working hours:
7:30 a.m. 4:00 p.m.
