Quality Specialist

Summary

As a Quality Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring first‑time quality and on‑time delivery of highly engineered wire and cable solutions in regulated industries. You will lead quality control and quality assurance activities across order execution, compliance, and continuous improvement, partnering closely with Engineering, Production, and cross‑functional stakeholders. Your work directly supports compliance with stringent customer and regulatory requirements while strengthening Shawflex’s quality culture and execution excellence.

Responsibilities

Order Execution & Customer Quality

  • Provide daily quality guidance to cross‑functional teams to support on‑time shipment and flawless execution.
  • Review quotations and purchase orders to ensure quality requirements are clearly defined and met.
  • Prepare, verify, and release customer quality documentation, including test reports, Certificates of Compliance, and production records.
  • Partner with Engineering and Production to ensure manufacturing processes meet regulatory and customer quality requirements.
  • Monitor first‑time quality, non‑conformances, customer complaints, and delivery performance, escalating risks as required.
  • Support product qualification activities, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), and customer witness inspections.
Continuous Improvement
  • Lead and participate in root cause analysis and corrective actions for internal and external non‑conformances.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance quality performance, efficiency, and system effectiveness.
  • Contribute to the development and optimization of Quality Control and Quality Assurance systems.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
  • Create, maintain, and improve Quality Management System (QMS) documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001 and applicable nuclear quality standards.
  • Analyze quality data to identify trends and implement preventive or corrective actions.
  • Perform internal audits and support customer, regulatory, and certification audits.
  • Support supplier and vendor quality audits and nuclear quality system standardization initiatives.
Health, Safety & Reporting
  • Support Health, Safety & Environment programs, including hazard identification and safety observations.
  • Prepare and maintain quality metrics and reports related to nuclear and space programs.
Qualifications Education
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Science, or a related technical field preferred.
  • A relevant community college diploma with applicable experience will be considered.
Experience
  • 3+ years of experience in quality management within regulated manufacturing environments such as nuclear, aerospace, automotive, or industrial manufacturing.
  • Hands‑on experience with Quality Management Systems; ISO 9001 experience is required.
  • Experience with nuclear or aerospace quality systems and audit training is considered an asset.
Skills & Competencies
  • Strong knowledge of quality systems, regulatory compliance, and manufacturing processes.
  • Proven problem‑solving and root cause analysis capability.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with strong attention to detail and ethical judgement.
  • Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional, fast‑paced manufacturing environments.
  • Clear communication skills and the ability to build strong working relationships across teams.
