Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital is a high‑traffic acute care facility in York Region offering emergency, medical, surgical, mental health, and rehabilitation services. Security operates in a fast‑paced environment, focusing on patrols, access control, and emergency response to support patient and staff safety.
PositionSecurity Guard – Site:
Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital.
Hours:
Continental Rotating (0700‑1900/1900‑0700 hrs). Payrate: $19.10/hr overtime after 88 hours.
- Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits to ensure safety.
- Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring suspicious activity is reported immediately.
- Monitor and control entry points, ensuring only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
- Act quickly in emergency situations such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats.
- Assist hospital staff during crises and evacuations.
- Greet and assist visitors, patients, and staff.
- Provide directions and ensure guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
- De‑escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts calmly and professionally.
- Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately.
- Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
- Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide coordinated security.
- Ensure hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed.
- Address any violations to uphold safety standards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- Valid Security License for Ontario.
- Valid First Aid & CPR Level C from a WSIB approved provider.
- Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella, Covid Vaccine (two doses), and two‑step TB skin test.
- English oral and written fluency.
- One year experience in security or law enforcement (asset).
- Preference for clean‑shaven candidates for N95 fit testing.
- Legally authorized to work in Canada.
- Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security & Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services (asset).
- Must provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB).
- Applicants without UOF/MOAB can opt into Paladin's UOF/MOAB training program prior to onboarding; training is not paid;
