Position OverviewThe Asset Protection Specialist (APS) is primarily responsible for preventing financial loss caused by theft and fraud, organized retail crime, and supporting safety and environmental program compliance in their assigned store(s). The APS will drive execution of the company's internal and external theft and fraud strategy and utilize several tools to minimize loss to the company.
Key Responsibilities- Build relationships by communicating with APSS (Asset Protection Specialist Supervisor) and MAPM (Market Asset Protection Manager) on internal and external investigations and physical security within the store.
- Maintain an open channel of communication with store management and all associates.
- Partner with store management to drive AP issues and drive a shrink elimination culture within the store environment.
- Participate in the In Focus program.
- Detain and interview persons apprehended for shoplifting in accordance with local laws and company procedures.
- Drive execution of store safety programs and validate compliance with company standards and policies.
- Validate environmental compliance to company standards.
- Check physical security of Home Depot facilities to prevent and deter theft/fraudulent activity.
- Write reports documenting apprehensions and recoveries, preserve evidence, and interact with law enforcement.
- Represent Home Depot in a professional manner throughout all court‑related procedures.
- Meet all Home Depot and AP training and certification requirements.
- Create associate awareness for shrink issues related to internal and external theft, operational deficiencies, and physical security.
- Effectively support the AP team plan.
- Utilize CCTV, exception reports, and audit the Electronic Article Surveillance (EAS) systems.
- Test building alarm system.
- Conduct surveillance when required.

Working ConditionsVersatile schedule that may include evenings and weekends; warehouse environment that can be dusty and noisy; doors frequently open causing drafts and interior temperature changes.
Minimum Requirements- High School Diploma or GED.
- 1+ year(s) experience as a retail‑related loss prevention investigator (or equivalent).
- Valid security guard license and/or private investigator license (where applicable).
- Must have access to a vehicle.
- May be required to travel to various stores in the market area.
- Bilingualism (French/English) is an asset.
The pay range for this position is between $22.00 and $24.00.
