As a Supervisor, you play a critical role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and timely maintenance and inspection of freight cars within the shop and yard. You will lead resource planning, scheduling, and job assignments to keep operations running smoothly. This position is ideal for a proactive leader who champions safety, communicates with clarity, and drives accountability to deliver exceptional performance and operational excellence.
POSITIONACCOUNTABILITIES
- Lead and manage a unionized team performing maintenance, inspections, testing, and repairs on freight cars, mobile equipment, and vehicles used in plant, yard, and road service
- Ensure all freight car repairs meet regulatory standards including Association of American Railroads (AAR), Transport Canada, and CPKC policies
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to enhance operational fluidity and achieve daily compliance with the Local Service Operating Plan and overall Operating Plan.
- Drive performance accountability by monitoring safety, service, productivity, and financial metrics to meet organizational goals
- Champion a strong safety culture within the terminal by enforcing compliance, implementing corrective actions, and leading proactive safety discussions.
- Conduct shift briefings to ensure accurate documentation and seamless communication with the next Supervisor on duty
- Mentor and coach mechanical employees through active observation, constructive feedback, and skill development initiatives
- High school diploma or general equivalency
- Valid driver's license
- 2 years’ previous supervisory experience in logistics or an operational environment (preferred)
- Available to work all types of shifts, including nights, weekends and holidays in all weather conditions
- Ability to drill down, understand root cause and resolve complex issues
- Excellent focus, attention to detail and ability to multitask
- Read and understand safety instructions, operating rules and regulations and other written or printed material in English
- Proficient in MS Office Outlook, Word, and Excel

Medical and Drug Testing:
This is a safety-sensitive position and a successful pre-employment medical assessment including physical, vision, hearing, and a negative company drug test is required. Post-hire qualification drug testing may also be required.
